John Helfy Batteur pro, compositeur et performer.
Issu d’une famille de mélomanes et de musiciens d’origines Franco-Tzigane, j’ai été bercé dès mon plus jeune âge par les mélodies de Django Reinhardt. Ma mère, artiste peintre et guitariste, mon père, batteur passionné et ma sœur passionnée de David Bowie m’ont toujours sensibilisé à la musique.
Le rythme m’est venu assez tôt, à l’âge de 7 ans, en restant bloqué sur l’écoute du mythique solo de batterie de Ian Paice du live «Deep Purple Made In Japan ». Ma mère m’inscrit à mes premiers cours de batterie lorsque j’ai 10 ans.
J’ai commencé à enseigner la batterie dès 2001. Je me suis installé officiellement en 2003, comme professeur de batterie à Dijon. Entre 2004 et 2006, j’ai participé à plusieurs séances studio ainsi que des remplacements pour des festivals en France et Angleterre. C’est en 2007, à mon arrivée sur Rennes que le projet prend définitivement forme lorsque je lance les démarches après avoir inscrit mon premier élève breton jusqu’en 2017.
Je voyage dans plusieurs pays (France, Angleterre, Allemagne, Italie, Espagne, USA) pour jouer avec des groupes ou aller dans des salons de la musique, intervenir dans des stages et produire mon show « Paicey Story », l’histoire de Ian Paice ! Ma rencontre avec Ian fut primordiale pour moi car cela a changé la vision de ma carrière. Je passe aujourd’hui beaucoup de temps avec mes groupes et projets pour prévoir nos sorties d’album ainsi que l’organisation de nos tournée.
J’ai le bonheur de partager des scènes avec Patrick Rondat, Ron Thal, Jonathan Noyce, Ange, Virgil Donati et Ian Paice !

John Helfy Pro drummer, composer and performer. Coming from a family of music lovers and musicians of Franco-Gypsy origins, I was rocked from an early age by the melodies of Django Reinhardt. My mother, painter and guitarist, my father, passionate drummer and my sister passionate about David Bowie have always made me aware of music.
The rhythm came to me quite early, at the age of 7, by remaining stuck on listening to the legendary drum solo of Ian Paice from the live « Deep Purple Made In Japan ». My mother signed me up for my first drum lessons when I was 10 years old.
I started teaching drums in 2001. I officially settled in 2003 as a drum teacher in Dijon. Between 2004 and 2006, I participated in several studio sessions as well as replacements for festivals in France and England. It was in 2007, when I arrived in Rennes, that the project definitely took shape when I launched the process after registering my first Breton student until 2017.
I travel to several countries (France, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, USA) to play with groups or go to music fairs, take part in internships and produce my show « Paicey Story », the story of Ian Peace! My meeting with Ian was essential for me because it changed the vision of my career. Today I spend a lot of time with my bands and projects to plan our album releases as well as the organization of our tours.
I have the pleasure of sharing scenes with Patrick Rondat, Ron Thal, Jonathan Noyce, Ange, Virgil Donati and Ian Paice!
